Squares #116, 117, 118, 119, 120 from UT

These squares came ALL the way from Taylorsville, Utah (heehee...they're just around the corner!) They are SOO special to me because they're from my dear friend, Peggy. We have gone to church with her and her husband for almost 7 years now and she is awesome, I just love her to pieces!
This square is so cute, Noah's Ark, and the wish says:
And they entered the ark two by two...

I have to explain a little about why these 2 fabrics are so special! When we were fundraising for our adoption and trying to come up with all that money, Peggy (sweetie that she is) made a queen sized quilt with these fabrics. She then donated the quilt so that we could auction/raffle it off to help us to raise money for Sarah's adoption. And...if that wasn't nice enough...she made Sarah a crib size quilt to match that she actually has in her crib at this moment!
The wish says:
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life."

The next 2 squares are so AWESOME! Peggy did not just stop at giving us squares of fabric! NO, she actually pieced together these 2 BEAUTIFUL quilt squares! I love them both! They're amazing!

The wish says:

You make my heart sing.

You make me smile when I see you!

And this wish says:

God Bless America

Welcome to America!!

I just have one thing to say,

"Peggy, YOU ROCK!!"

Square #113 from Salt Lake City, Ut

This square is from Lili, my pseudo niece and best friend's (Natalia's) older daughter. I have one from her little sister, too, but she hasn't finished the wish yet.
Lili's wish says:
~Sarah~ I chose the ballerina fabric because I love to dance:
I also chose it because on lucky occasions when we
turn on music, you'll do your cute little bouncing dance, you
are such a cute little dancer!!!!!
I love you Sarah
Love, Lily
P.S. for those of you who actually read these wishes, no I didn't spell Lili's name wrong on the wish part. Her name is Liliana and spelled with an "i" but, she's 13 and has decided that the "better", more American spelling has a "y". Sheesh, TEENAGERS!

Square #112 from Salt Lake City, UT

This wish came from my best friend of 14 years ( I just realized how long that is, Wow!) We've been through a lot together over the years, that's for sure. Since we're both only children, she's more like a sister to me and her kids are like my nieces.
The wish says:
Sarah-this fabric with the treats on it reminded me of
you because when you come to my house you always ask
me for cookies and sweets!
My wish for you is that you grow up to be a strong and
grounded young woman and have success in all your endeavors.
Love, Natalia

Square #105 from Naracoorte, South Australia

This square came from South Australia! A woman on the OHGWQ yahoo group lives there and sent this square.
This wish says:
Little one I cannot promise
That life will be free of pain,
But through the many turmoils
I hope that you will gain-
Strength and renewal
Like the land refreshed by rain.
Little one I cannot promise
That you will never ask why
Life has given you this path
At times so low, so high-
Be blessed with vision,
That will let your spirit fly.
Little one I cannot promise
That all answers will be clear.
To complete understanding-
Most stories don't adhere.
Knowing you are loved
Will help you through life to steer.
Little one I can but promise
Within the power of love-
The giving and receiving comes
With healing from above
Settling our inner hearts
Under the wings of the Dove.
Little one our Father's promise
That He is always near-
Through His Son we are adopted
Into His family dear,
Sustains us through all things
Until our vision of Him is clear.

Square #104 from China via Australia

This wish is from a Chinese woman who's living in South Australia currently. She just had a baby and I was able to also contribute to her quilt for her little baby.
This wish says:
This is a blessing
exchanged between Chinese Christians.
The first two characters literally mean
God (The God of Zion). The second two characters
express the idea of giving protection.
Another way to translate this is,
"May God protectyou."

This square came from another adoptive family from CA that I swapped squares with. I ran across their blog right before they were leaving for China to adopt their daughter.

Today I kissed an angel
I knew it from the start
the first time my angel smiled at me
I gave my away my heart
Today I kissed an angel
this angel child of mine
though not of my creation
my child by God's design
Today I kissed an angel
my heart is dancing wild
a family, by a miracle
blessed by this angel child

Nor cricket chirping cheerily,
Nor grasshopper so light of leap,
Nor dancind gnat, nor beetle fat,
Nor harmless worms that creep.
-Christina Rosetti

Keep them Coming!

Even though we have more than 100 squares, I am still collecting them. I want to have enough squares to make Sarah a lap blanket. Since I have never quilted before, I want to make it for practice before I tackle her 100 Good Wishes Quilt. So, I'm still collecting them and have already received promises from many friends and family for squares that I'm still waiting for.

Square #100!! from Norfolk, VA

This is our 100th square! It came from the a family who is from Norfolk, VA from the OHGWQ swap group. They are waiting for their daughter in China.
The wish says:
Legacy of an Adopted Child
Once there were two women
Who never knew each other.
One you do not remember
The other you call Mother.
Two different lives shaped to make yours one.
One became your guiding star,
The other became your sun.
The first gave you life;
And the second taught you how to live it.
The first gave you a need for love,
And the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality,
The other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed of talent
The other gave you an aim.
One gave you emotions,
The other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile
The other dried your tears.
One gave you away-it was all she could do.
The other prayed for a child-God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me, through your tears,
The age-old question unanswered through the years:
Heredity or Environment-which are you the product of?
Neither my Darling, neither,
Just two different kinds of love.
